KEITH Walking Floor Systems provide horizontal loading/unloading solutions for bulk materials, pallets, bales and rolls. The company’s state-of-the-art production facility in Madras Oregon operates using Lean Manufacturing practices. We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Industrial Controls Intern to support our Engineering Team. This role will provide you with hands-on experience in designing, troubleshooting, and programming industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. This internship is ideal for students with a background in Electrical Engineering, automation, or industrial controls who are eager to gain practical experience in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities Assist with the design, development, and testing of control systems, including PLC programming, HMI design, and SCADA implementation. Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues, collaborating with Engineers to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Support the documentation of system designs, wiring diagrams and manuals. Conduct testing on prototypes through to final product, to validate control system functionality. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age. Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. Previous experience with industrial controls (classroom, projects, or previous internships) is preferred but not required. Foundational knowledge of electricity/electronics, control systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation. Familiarity with PLC platforms and software (Allen Bradley, Codesys, Studio 5000, CCW) is a plus. Basic understanding of wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and desire to work “hands-on”. Able to communicate in English with team members (Speak and reading, writing ability required.) May be required to pass employer performance tests including pre-employment drug screening. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Physical Requirements include the ability to sit or stand for 8 to10 hours at a time. Lift 25 lbs. repetitively. Working in both office and production environments.
